Grandfather

Miley’s paternal grandfather, Ronald Ray Cyrus, played a massive part in her life. The two of them were almost inseparable, and formed a loving family bond that was tragically broken when Ronald passed away in 2006. The crushed Miley hints to this relationship in many of her songs, and the influence her grandfather had on her is clear – she even changed her middle name to Ray in honor of his memory. Not many people know that, because they assume that she did it after her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, but this change is actually a touching tribute to her special relationship with Ronald Ray. He was a Democrat, and managed to shape some of the strong ethics and morals that we see and love in Miley herself

Dad

Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley’s dad, is also a musician, and is famous for his song “Achey Breaky Heart”, which your parents probably love to sing along to. He is a big star in his own right, and has managed to guide Miley in the right direction, often helping her to make difficult career decision. The loving father and daughter often perform together, which is a real Cyrus family treat. With a dad like that it’s no wonder Miley keeps going from strength to strength.

Siblings

Miley is lucky enough to be part of a big family, and she has 6 brothers and sisters in all! Even though some of them are from her parents’ previous relationship, there is a strong bond between all of the Cyrus kids and it seems that there is some serious talent in the gene pool. Trace does vocals and guitar for Metro Station and Brandi is also a guitarist, while Noah is an actress! Wow!

If all of this family tradition isn’t enough, Miley’s godmother is the superstar actress and singer Dolly Parton! Talk about keeping it all in the family. No wonder Miley is doing so great – she has the love and support of all of her uber-talented family!

Miley was actually christened Destiny Hope Cyrus – how beautiful is that!!!! – because her parents Billy Ray and Letitia Jean felt that she was destined for great things. She earned her nickname Miley because when she was a baby she used to flash that gorgeous smile the whole time. Smiley became Miley, and after the tragic passing of her grandfather in 2006, Miley officially became Miley Ray Cyrus, the amazing star that we love and adore.

It seems that Miley’s folks were right about her, because wherever she goes, success seems to follow her. She got her big break playing Miley Stewart and Hannah Montana in the smash hit Disney Channel show Hannah Montana. This was Miley’s big break and it gave her a chance to show off her acting skills, great sense of humour and awesome singing and entertaining talent. A star was instantly born, and the show became a huge success all over the world, taking Miley with it into every corner of the world from Chicago to Cape Town.

But Miley wasn’t happy yet, and decided to break away from the mega success of the Hannah Montana show to pursue a solo career, and what a great choice that has been so far. No that Miley doesn’t have to stick to the Hannah Montana character she really has the chance to express herself as a musician, and inspirational songs like “The Climb” show just what a special heart she has. Music is clearly her calling, and she has racked up some serious sales figures as well as so many awards that there isn’t enough space to list them all here!!

It seems that movies are Miley’s next step, and she has already started making a name for herself in this very competitive industry. So Undercover and Not Afraid are due for release soon, and if these films are as successful as her previous projects, then we are sure to see more of Miley in the future, and we simply cannot wait!

Whether she’s rocking out on stage, making us laugh on TV, doing her thing on the big screen or steaming up camera lenses on a modelling shoot, it seems Miley’s parents were definitely right when they expected her to do great things!
